Three \nyears later, at the age of 23, she was betrayed by a comrade and \narrested by the regime\u2019s secret police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nasrin spent the next eight years in Iran\u2019s prison system. She as \nsystematically tortured, threatened with execution, starved and forced \nto live in appalling, horribly overcrowded conditions.&nbsp;<em>One Woman\u2019s Struggle&nbsp;<\/em>is\n both an account of what happened to her during those eight years and \nevidence that her spirit was never broken. Nasrin\u2019s memoir is a story of\n friendship and mutual support, of how women drew strength from one \nanother and found endless small ways to show kindness and even find tiny\n specks of joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This book, however, is not simply about the prison system in Iran. It  is about oppression \u2013 and especially\u00a0the oppression of woman \u2013 wherever  it takes place.
